Memorable Scents

Dwight's toiletries
June 2015

One of the gifts that I remember giving to my brother Rich at Christmas was a bottle of Old Spice aftershave. Even though he had other brands - Aqua Velva, Brut, and English Leather, the one he used the most was Old Spice.

Several family members gathered at my sister's house in June, and one morning I spied my nephew's toiletries on the counter of the guest bathroom. Sitting there was the familiar bottle of Old Spice, and I admit that I popped off the top and took a big whiff.

What scents bring back memories for you?

  1. Many years ago I started using Jovan perfume and my Mom liked it and used it from then on, when I get a whiff of it I think of my Mom.

  2. My sister always wore Estee Lauder's Youth Dew. I loved smelling it at the time. Now it seems so strong.

Steve still uses some Old Spice products. In the summer even I use their deodorant. It has a nice fresh scent.

  5. I always think of my dad when I smell Old Spice, and I love that smell. My girls recently told me that I always smelled like Noxema when they were little. Hmmm - I haven't used it in years now.

  6. I love Old Spice and wish more men wore it today! I feel it in my heart when I smell Chanel No. 5, my Mother's signature scent.

  7. I love Old Spice. It takes me back to my childhood when my dad splashed Old Spice on his freshly shaven face. Dennis uses the Old Spice deodorant. Ahhhhh. And that Old Spice bottle. . .isn't it great?

  8. Out of the blue the other morning as I was lying in bed I all of a sudden had an overwhelming longing to smell primary school like back in the kindy, grade 1 and grade 2 days. The main smell was of paper and cardboard mixed with coloured pencils and wood shavings, then below that was cardboard school ports with lunches of Vegemite or peanut paste sandwiches and at least 3/4 of the kids had bananas too.
